When I named this blog I thought I was pregnant, but it was a false alarm. I was craving pickles and cream cheese, yes in the same bite. Not too off target from the name is my current craving of pickled peaches! I can’t wait for summer on the shore and short drives over to Bob’s Barn in Coloma. Somehow I think the jalapeno apple pie, pickled peaches and fresh blueberries will do just the trick.
I don’t think anything can prepare you for the first few months of pregnancy. It is downright awful. I have never been so consistently nauseas, tired and emotional. It’s crazy to think how I started getting sick only 4 days after conceiving(yep, I even know the day!), but didn’t take a pregnancy test for nearly a month and a half. When we went down to Florida in late March I threw up 22 times in four days. Glamorous right? As a former bulimic Kevin was pretty concerned, but I assured him, it must have been all the seafood I had eaten the night before.
Well golly was I wrong, because when I got back to Chicago it turned out I was pregnant! So after a night of vodka soda's and uterus rubbing with a friend I got passed the pregnancy bug the night of the Naked Raygun show in Chicago. Pretty crazy! I used to love hearing all the crazy punk rock stories from my dad, so it will be fun to pass on a conception story to my little blueberry.
So here I am, 9 weeks and 1 day along. I’m down 8 lbs and up nearly an inch in my waist. How insane is that?! My pre-pregnancy measurements were 30C(or 33”)-24.25-35.5 and a size 2 dress. So far all my clothing fits the same, but there are some noticeable changes already. First of all, I can no longer fit into any of my 34B bras (woohoo!) and I can only fit into my 24” 50s dresses if I wear a full girdle.
My doctor says my uterus is the size of a grapefruit and my little fetus is 2.36 cm big. During the ultrasound I not only got to hear my little blueberry’s heartbeat, but watched it fist pump! It was so cute and yes, I cried.
