I want comfy, modern and non-baby decor. I love mixing patterns and so far have found some really neat pieces that go with the Dwell bedding set this project all started with. It is amazing how crappy one can feel, but get none of the sympathy, because my bump is as noticeable as my size 2 self eating one too many cupcakes. I’m sure the moment my bump shows up, I will be begging to fit back into my skinny jeans, but for now I will envy the women around me with their adorable bumps.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">One of the more noticeable events of the week has to be my decision to switch medical practices. Up until now I was a practice that had an alternative birthing center, but despite being under the impression they offered water births, they do not. Despite loving my doctor, I have decided to make the switch to another hospital nearby. They are one of two in/around Chicago that offer water births. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">So on August 1 I will change medical groups and transfer to a midwife practice and be able to have a<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>water birth. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">In the mean time I am going stir crazy waiting to find out what my little one is. We played dress up, baked a pie, ran around outside and <em>ate.</em> I should really emphasis the <strong>eating </strong>part here, because I swear the kid did not stop eating the entire five hours she was with me. She not only ate my homemade cream of mushroom soup, but had an apple, pear, orange, slice of cherry pie, fruit snacks, crackers, and an entire bag of popcorn. Holy moly, does that kid pack the food in! </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Being so exhausted from the pregnancy I have a newfound respect for expectant moms who also have toddlers to chase around. I was wiped out after my day with Miss T. She kept going and going like the energizer bunny and by 4pm I just wanted to sit down and have nap time. Which of course she was not interested in. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Our bulldog Boris is always a handful, but I really want him to be surrounded by as many little kids as possible prior to our baby arriving. He did pretty well with Teagan, he jumped on her once, which was very bad, but after the first hour he got used to a little tyke running around. He was more upset that he couldn’t be around us at all times, which is par for the course in Bullybear world. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Wrigley of course was as close to perfect as a puggle can be. She barked a little, but I think it was because Boris riled her up. Teagan got to rub her belly and chase her, which Wrigley LOVED.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Now on to training the husband. </span></div>Xza Louisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07381423610118666955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8777062856711773206.post-49120561433408717732011-05-24T10:19:00.000-07:002011-05-24T10:19:12.518-07:00Lucky ThirteenWe are at thirteen weeks today and I am more excited than ever! First of all, I will be out of school in two weeks! Done officially, forever, well until I decide that I <em>really </em>need a PHD... not going to happen.<br />
<br />
Once I am done, I am heading out to Michigan for the summer. A good relaxing summer is really needed. I have never felt so drained and exhausted in my life so this is going to be a lovely summer of shade-bathing on the beach.<br />
<br />
In other great news, yesterday was my first full day of being productive! I got up at 7am and was able to stay wide awake till 8:30pm. At around 9pm I fell asleep and it felt so good to get most of my work done. It has been a while since I have been able to be that productive. I was also able to enjoy some sushi. We went to our favorite downtown sushi joint called Oysy. They were incredibly nice and accommodating about cooking everything through. I had the California Sunset which is a California roll topped with salmon, which they kindly seared all the way through, two pieces of the Spider Roll and some chicken teriyaki. Yum!<br />
<br />
I will be posting belly photos tomorrow... it's becoming quite prominent.Xza Louisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07381423610118666955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8777062856711773206.post-33270014615330569492011-05-17T10:11:00.000-07:002011-05-24T10:12:39.996-07:00<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">My little blueberry is now at the 12 week mark and momma has a belly. Well a little belly, but I love it! It’s bizarre; because I have never had a belly and if I didn’t know I was pregnant I would be going on a diet. I’m just a bit pudgier than usual.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">I would really like to find a website that has girls that are typically a size 0-4 showing their bellies. I am seeing some huge bellies, but I have feeling these women already had something to start with. I’m just so into this process that I want to know where I am comparatively.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">But then I see a girl like this and am like, she’s tiny! But her belly is twice my size. It makes me sad.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><br />

</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">However in non-crazy pregnancy hormone induced news. This weekend was a blast and it all started Thursday night. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We ended up going to dinner with six of our good friends who were predominantly from the Bad Religion camp. Our friends Ray (no one special, kidding), Shakes (Brooks’ drum tech), Cathy (tour manager), Greg (guitarist), Jay (bass) and Brian (guitarist) all dined at Province. Most of us indulged in the 5 course tasting menu. It was holy fuck amazingly awesome. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Amuse</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Smoked salmon crème fraiche shooter</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Salad</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Baby spinach with pork belly vinaigrette with perfectly poached egg</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Pasta</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">pacquiao pepper and pappardelle pasta with fresh cheese and brussel sprout leaves</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Seafood</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Grilled soft shell crab with a spicy sauce</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Meat</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">New York strip with fingerling potato hash </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Dessert</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Coffee ice cream parfait that tasted more like the best god damn tiramisu you have ever had</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><br />
</div>Ok, back to being tired nowXza Louisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07381423610118666955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8777062856711773206.post-76108808781467948882011-05-12T09:26:00.000-07:002011-05-13T13:25:32.053-07:00Vegan Taco Lunch<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The list of foods that taste normal to me is ridiculously slim. Most things taste off, and I have a tendency to over-season everything right now. In my attempt to eat a high protein, non-nausea inducing lunch for me and my little blueberry I opened up my fridge and went a little crazy. I made enough for a dinner party, and next time I might as well invite the whole block.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VWSQFqKKXNQ/TcwPDVCkHlI/AAAAAAAAAQg/6ooQHVwgROE/s1600/blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" j8="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VWSQFqKKXNQ/TcwPDVCkHlI/AAAAAAAAAQg/6ooQHVwgROE/s320/blog.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><strong>White Girl Guacamole </strong><br />
2 avocados<br />
1/2 tbs lemon juice<br />
2 dashes paprika<br />
S+P to taste<br />
<br />
Mash it all up, put it in a bowl and guac out <br />
<br />
<strong>Tangy Radishes</strong><br />
3 radishes<br />
pinch of white sugar<br />
2 tsp white vinegar<br />
<br />
Thinly shave the radishes, don't chop those fingers off.<br />
dilute sugar in vinegar and toss over radishes<br />
<br />
<strong>Sweet & Spicy Sweet Potato</strong><br />
1 sweet potato<br />
1/2 tbs fake butter or olive oil<br />
1 tsp paprika<br />
1/2 tsp pepper<br />
dash of salt<br />
<br />
Microwave sweet potato for 3 minutes. Remove and peel skin off. Cut into 1/2" pieces and toss with spices. Saute in butter/oil for a few minutes till the outside is slightly browned.<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><strong>Corn & Black Bean Salsa</strong></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Two Ears of Corn or one can corn, fresh is best though!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Small can of black beans</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Handful of cherry tomato's</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">2 1/2 tbs Olive oil</div>1 tsp ground cumin<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">1/2 tsp salt</div>1 tsp pepper<br />
2 tsp lemon juice<br />
1/2 tsp paprika<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div>Boil corn in salted water until fully cooked, but still slightly crunchy. Remove and let cool. Slice corn off the cob, drain and rinse black beans, slice cherry tomato's into quarters and mix together in a medium bowl. In a small bowl mix olive oil and spices until well blended. A mini-whisk works perfectly for this. Pour dressing over veggies and toss. Refrigerate for 30 minutes if desired.<br />
<br />
Like every great taco bar I had faux sour cream, shredded soy cheese and salsa. I just use carb balance whole wheat tortillas and I am good to go.<br />
<br />
I hate raw onions of any type and cilantro is just so gross, so if you love those two ingredients you can just eyeball them into your salsa, guacamole and tacos.Xza Louisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07381423610118666955noreply@blogger.com0
